Nevada County Chernobyl Children's Project
The Children of Belarus Need You
That's what the flyer says from
Their Mission Statement:
Founded in 1995, the NCCCP is a non-profit community-based organization dedicated to providing humanitarian relief to children whose health has been affected by the Chernobyl accident. These children are: between the ages of 8 and 16, at risk for future illness due to the cumulative effects of low-dose radiation, or from needy families who do not have the means to otherwise send their child away for a health respite. The primary focus of the NCCCP is a six week recuperative homestay which allows these children to become healthier and stronger. Studies have shown that they go home better able to fight off illness and are absent from school three times less often the following year. Thanks to Mr. Leo LaBrie, these kids were able to come and bowl at Prosperity Lanes and have a great time! Here are some pictures that were shot that day. I hope they return next year!
